Best Places to Meet Singles in Austin

Austin was rated a great place for singles by Sperling's Best Places. Here's our list of what makes it so.

1. The Outdoors. If you're into the outdoors, there are plenty of places to meet others with similar interests. Try taking a swim at the Barton Springs Pool, or go for a bike ride at the Town Lake Trail, participate in a run and race event organized by RunTex and Whole Earth, or attend a class or an event at the local REI.

2. A Great Singles Lounge. Try J Blacks Feel Good Lounge, an upscale lounge on west sixth street featuring upscale food, nice ambience, great music, and delicious cocktails. Don't forget to check out their happy hour for great discounts on food, wine, and cocktails.

3A Swanky Warehouse District Bar219 West is a popular bar and restaurant, known for their extensive bar menu, fresh ingredients in well-prepared dishes, a great happy hour, as well as a great atmosphere for mingling singles.

4. Dance clubs. Our best pick has to be Barcelona, for its well-dressed and trendy clientele dancing to lively rhythms in this fun and underground club.

5. A Classy Hotel BarAt Stephen F's, you have great drinks, wine and cheese flights, and an outdoor terrace with views of the State Capitol, great for mingling.

6. Trendy Martinis. The Brown Bar has won many awards for its inventive martinis, but is also a great place to meet successful, single, 30-something professionals that head down for a few drinks after work.

7. Not a Drinker? Try Coffee. The Flightpath Coffeehouse in the university area is a quiet hangout for grad students and those looking to get some work done, but also has a great outdoor patio for clients to mingle and order coffee or beer and wine.

8. A Grocery Store? It's true. Meet other singles while grabbing a bite to eat at your local Whole Foods Market. They also offer classes, wine tasting events, and live music events (check their website for times/days), where you can cook or taste, and mingle.

9. Volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to meet people with similar interests and passions. There are volunteering opportunities all over Austin, and you're likely to find one that you're passionate about. Try Austin Parks, the Austin Museum of ArtAustin Humane Society, and the Habitat for Humanity.
